| The Depot building, built in 1928, is the sole survivor of the six depots built by the Atlantic Coast Line in the Mediterranean revival style. The building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was designed mainly to handle freight. The passenger area occupies a small portion of the northern end of the building. Separate ticket windows, waiting areas, and bathrooms reflect the segregation practiced at the time. The "colored" waiting room is now dedicated to the history of the black community. The "white" waiting room contains historical exhibits. The building was obtained by the Punta Gorda Historical Society (Old Punta Gorda, Inc.) through the generosity of the late Fred Babcock. Restoration, a project of the Punta Gorda Historical Society, is ongoing. The Antique Mall is located in the the large freight room and income generated from the mall is used to offset expenses and fund projects of the Punta Gorda Historical Society. The Punta Gorda Historical Museum is located in the ticket office of the Depot and consists of several exhibits pertaining to the Local Fishing Industry, influence of the Railroad and The Punta Gorda Army Air Field. The Antique Mall features over twenty independent booths. There is a wide selection of antiques, collectible items and just fascinating stuff from the past.
